A Voyage on the Seas of Autism with Julie Paterson - Episode #124
Happy New Year, Brave Friends! Let's go on an adventure! Life, like a boat ride, takes us in all directions, up and down, side to side and depending on the weather, can even capsize us! But what if our boat was full of able sailors all doing their own specialized jobs to keep us on course? With that kind of support we might feel brave enough to rock a bit, visit distant lands or even dive off and swim!
Today, host Jessica Patay joins mom Julie Paterson on a metaphorical boat trip through her life with son Dylan, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Julia shares her wisdom gleaned from all the storms they’ve weathered together, with specific insights on giving your child room to grow, selfcare and allowing others on your boat to help lighten the load.
Julie has been married to the love of her life, Steve, for 33 years. Her greatest achievement has been and will always be raising her two sons, Kyle and Dylan. Being the parent of an autistic son, Julie knows personally how much these individuals need support and, more importantly, how much these amazing human beings and their talents can add value to their communities. We all have a purpose – Julie is steadfast in her belief that these wonderful individuals be given the support they need to find theirs.
