Overwhelming Guilt and a Path to Acceptance with Laura Barrett - Episode #111
When a child is born with a genetic disease, as a parent, it can feel like we’ve already failed them. Suddenly our child’s future is full of torturous “WHAT IFS” and the urge to blame ourselves can be overwhelming, but sustaining that guilt can be just as dangerous for us as any disease. On this episode, we explore how journaling, therapy and other tools brought one mom closer to acceptance and self-forgiveness.
Today’s guest, Laura Barrett, is a successful copywriter and content editor whose son, Bailey, was born with cystic fibrosis. Today she uses her writing skills to fulfill her purpose of supporting other parents enduring a medical diagnosis for their child through her book Unconditional Love, and helping raise awareness of cystic fibrosis through national newspaper articles.
