A Better Mom Would Have Fixed This By Now with Rachel Ulriksen - Episode #113
Our darkest days as parents, buried inside us, can rot us from the inside out. Our darkest days shared, can free us and make others feel less alone. It takes courage to share our pain though, especially when that pain centers around our child’s “behavior”. Will others judge us or even reject us for being so open about our shame, pain and fear?
On this story episode, we hear from Rachel Ulriksen, who spent many years isolated due to the guilt and humiliation associated with her son Kevin’s aggressive and self injurious behavior.
Rachel is on a mission to save mothers like herself from the devastating shame she never deserved to feel. She shares her life experience (the good, the bad, and the ugly) in the blog she authors: The Kevin Chronicles. Rachel is also a special education teacher who helps children with special needs acquire the skills they need to make a smooth transition to adulthood. She is a wife of 23 years, mother of three children, avid gardener, fabulous cook, bird watcher, church singer, and believer that all things are possible with love and community.
